Malnourished and Underweight

We took Katrina in to the pediatrician for her last round of the shots that we bought in another Asian country back in October.  As usual, they weighed and measured her before they gave her the shots.  Here each patient is given a book that they need to bring with them to all subsequent doctor visits.  They record whatever pertinent information in the book as well as on a sheet for their records.  After the nurse finished the weighing and the doctor gave the shots, he wrote all the information into her little book.  Then he looked back at the previous visit information, did some calculations and pronounced her malnourished and underweight.  I couldn’t believe it!!  THIS CHILD?  Underweight and malnourished???  (I charted her height, weight and head circumference on the CDC’s child growth chart and she’s in the 50th percentile for weight and the 97th percentile for height…think she’s JUST FINE!)
