Drive in the country and whistle cakes

After the Ice Cream shop, we took Tamara for a drive outside of town.

Kids playing soccer

Dancing to the Zac Brown Band's Sic' 'Em On A Chicken!  Oh, the giggling!

Narrow roads - and no, the picture is not flipped, that's how we drive here.

Jackfruit

Doing laundry

Boat floating in a ditch

Crossing the big river

This is riverfront property

More riverfront property with boats docked below.

After we got home, the whistlecake man came by so we had the opportunity to give her that experience.

Wrapped in plastic-lined paper, covered with a piece of banana leaf

Each little mound is made up of rice flour and coconut and filled with palm sugar, and then steamed.  This all takes place on a cart that the man pushes around town, looking for customers.  People here don't call them whistle cakes but we do, because the steam generated in the cart is vented through a whistle when he's NOT cooking the little cakes.

Coated with a light layer of shredded coconut when it's done - careful, they're very hot!

Very tasty!

Indonesia looks very similar to the Philippines. It even looks like they have some similar foods.
