Family Vacation - The Trip

We had been planning to FINALLY take a vacation as a family- expecting to go during the kids' break at the beginning of October.  We had an unexpected ministry trip that came up the day before we were to leave, so we postponed the trip until early November.
We drove through the jungles - there was a newly paved road that allowed us a relatively easy trip.  We left EARLY in the morning - you can see the mist hasn't burned off yet here.

Part of the road was still under construction - this would have been the worst that the road was during any part of the trip.  There were some very large potholes on some of the older part of the road, but we just had to slow down and go around those.

I was praying during THIS part!  We got through!

We hit some rain around the time we got to the border.

Beautiful scenery - Katrina wanted to climb to the tops of the mountains!  Our car could hardly make 80 km/h, never mind the 90 km/h that was allowed on many of the stretches of highway!  Besides that, our car kept on backfiring, surprising the motorists on motorbikes behind us and causing us to laugh til we cried at times!

10 hours after our departure: it was wonderful to finally arrive in the city!

The kids enjoyed watching the street below our 14th-floor hotel room!
