Kwie Tieow and Martabak

We took Tamara out for one of our favorite order-in meals.  We don't usually eat it here where they make it, but thought it would be a fun experience!
The tables are tiny so we take up two of them

Waiting for them to cook the food

Clearly this place is owned by Chinese people

Here's one of the varieties of Kwie Tieow - Josh's choice

Fresh-squeezed orange juice with ice hacked off of a block delivered by an ice delivery guy on bicycle.

After supper, we went out to find a Martabak stand.

This man pours batter into cast-iron pans using what is typically a water dipper for the bathroom!

Cooking

More bubbles, almost ready

Ah, time for the toppings!

Taking it out of the pan with a paint scraper

Ready to top it with goodies - usually they use a type of butter-flavored crisco-y substance on top but that makes it very greasy.  Much to their amazement we consistently ask them to skip that step and just move on to the toppings.

Chopped peanuts

Chocolate sprinkles

Sweetened condensed milk

YUM!
