Back in '98 or '99 I made a quilt for my sister Rachel for her wedding. It was a double Irish chain quilt, dark green and ivory solids with an ivy print on a navy background. It took me over a year to finish it and was VERY hard to give her in the end, because I'd taken so much time to make it and it was so very beautiful.
I finally had a reason to make myself one - my bedspread from 2007 was looking really ratty, so I picked up some fabric in late 2010, and finally took the time in March to sew up a double Irish chain of my own! I love it - I used 2 different batiks and a solid blue. I love it!
The corners have a nine-patch design. The whole quilt took me about 12 hours - two evenings. I used the "Quilt In A Day" book for instructions.
Our house is very very hot - maybe because we don't have a dirt yard and the cement absorbs the heat and then radiates it. Even neighbors exclaim about our hot house! We decided to try to do something about it, and installed these whirly birds. We're not sure they've made a difference, but they were the only house vents available, so that's what we chose! We also had NO clue how many we needed but the installer said 3 was perfect, so we went with it.
Pre-installation
The kids doing a special number in church. Spencer and Mitchell are in the back and Julia is right in front of Mitchell in the pink dress with her hair pulled back.
Another thing we were dealing with in March was Julia's owies. Some of you remember previous posts where I showed a photo of a stack of bandaid wrappers (seems like it was 23 bandaids on her little legs). (See it here) Well, this time it got out of hand, and she ended up with a staph infection on her legs in multiple locations. NOT fun. So thankful they've healed up now.
Healing somewhat. Thanks for praying for our health!
